Consign with us

Policy & Procedure *Updated December 2024*

When you are ready to Consign:

Clothing and clothing accessory Consignment are by appointment only.

We do not purchase items outright.

When you make an appointment for consignment, you will automatically be added to the waitlist in case of any cancelations or no shows.

Your appointment is automatically canceled and I will move down the list if you are more than 20 minutes late. You will need to reschedule.

At the time of your appointment, you can bring up to 25 items that are within season:

February - April: Spring

May - July: Summer

August - October: Fall

November - January: Winter

The items you bring must be freshly washed, free of offensive odors, pet hair or lint. We also accept items that are new with tags as long as they are also free of offensive odors, pet hair or lint. They can be brought in on hangers and/or neatly folded into a basket.

Your appointment should be about 15-20 minutes. As I consider your items, you will fill out and we can go over the Consignment Agreement. At the end of your appointment, I will send you home with your hangers, basket and any No Thank You items. 

No Thank You items could be items we have in abundance, stained, damaged or show signs of wear. 

If any items that have passed the initial inspection do not meet our standards at the time of processing these items will be pulled for you to pick up and you will be notified via email.

Please only 1 appointment per client for 30 days.

I will NOT process and price the item during your appointment.

Please remember to take a DEEP breath and “Let It Go!” We will do our best to get the best price for your item. Consignee (you) will receive 40% and Consignor (Deep Closets) will receive 60% of the Item’s final sale price before sales tax. We reserve the right to apply additional discounts or promotions at our discretion.

We will consign your item(s) for 90 days. After 30 days, the item(s) will be marked down with a 25% discount. After 60 days, item will be marked down 50%off the original price.  Any unsold items after 90 days, you will be notified by email to come pick up your items. You will have 2 weeks to pick up items once notified items ready. Any items not picked up will be donated or property of Deep Closets.

 

Please allow 2-3 business days for your items to be processed upon receiving and pulled at the end of the consigment period. Any holidays or store closures will also add addtional time to your consignments. 

 You will be notified via email that your items are ready for pick up. If you do not pick up your items within 10 business days of the email notice it will become property of Deep Closets and will be sold or donated. If you change your mind about consigning you item(s) there is a $3 per item processing fee.

 

Deep Closets is not responsible for any lost, stolen or damaged items. 

 

Any items left for donation that we are unable to sell will be distributed but not limited to Domestic Violence Survivors: 

Women’s Center of Greater Lansing 

Eve Inc. 

MSU Safe place (Women and children shelter) 

GAPS Outreach

 

Payment for your Consignments:

The second week of every month, I will check all accounts that have reached $25 or more. I will send you an email to notify you and we can arrange when you would like to pick up a check. If your balance is under $25, it can be used as a store credit or towards alterations.  A $3.00 fee will be charged if you would like your check mailed. There is a $5.00 fee for any check that needs to be reissued.
